Yeats and Kipling: Retrospectives, Perspectives

‘Yeats and Kipling: Retrospectives, Perspectives’ was organised as a conference series from 10th to 18th March 2015 to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of William Butler Yeats and Rudyard Kipling respectively. The series was a unique collaboration between the Department of English, Bharati College, University of Delhi, the Department of English, Saurashtra University, Rajkot and the Oberoi Cecil, Shimla and involved a range of academics from all over as well as from outside the Indian literary academe in concerted deliberation over texts, contexts and legacies of these seminal litterateurs of the English canon. Taking cue from the series, the organisers now wish to make available the scholarship presented in the series as well as such scholarship on Yeats and Kipling, particularly on both considered together, which the series was not able to incorporate or attract, into an anthology which will attract greater attention to the contemporaneity of these authors and their various trajectories, and spur more critical and literary work on them.

Accordingly, proposals of not more than 500 words on chapters of not more than 8000 words (including annotations and bibliography) for this anthology are invited till 31st July 2015 to conf.eng.bc@gmail.com from scholars working on Yeats and Kipling together, or on either of them. The emergent anthology will be divided into three sections, the first on Yeats and Kipling considered together and the other two on Yeats and Kipling respectively. Hence, while we are open to considering comment on either Yeats or Kipling, we will prefer work which considers, or compares, any aspect(s) relevant to both together. Please refer to the appropriate page on this blog for the concept note and list of abstracts presented; for queries, feel free to contact at the above address. Scholars whose proposals are selected will be notified by the second week of August 2015; chapters, formatted in accordance with latest MLA guidelines, will be due by 31st October 2015 and will be submitted for peer reviews thereafter; the anthology is planned for publication by March 2016.
